Claire is now quite the mover and shaker. She's always on the move and wants us to help her walk all over the place. She's climbing our stairs but still prefers the scoot over the crawl. Here she is about to go on her "blanket ride".
I managed 30 miles again this week with a 7 mile run and an aerobic assessment. The aerobic assessment was about what I expected and I've got about 30 seconds to drop. Did my 3 mile assessment at 160 bpm (LT minus 20 bpm) in 6:16 pace average for the last two miles this time. I also got in a 68 mile bike ride on Sunday. This was my first ride since October 9th so I figured it could get ugly for me. Needless to say I stuck my nose out where it didn't belong and ended up getting dropped and riding the last 10 miles solo on fumes. I don't remember having that happen since 2005 so it was a good wake up call.
January was kind of a blur for me. Jen and I are quite busy and have somehow managed to juggle everything. It was a tough month and it forced me to start waking up at 5:30am or before to be able to keep up with my workload at work. I just got three projects all at once so my time management skills have been put to the test. As the month closes out I'm starting to see the light and can sense a bit of breathing room heading into February.
We're starting to learn that Claire only really likes to eat when she's able to feed herself. I was feeding her carrots from the spoon and she would get ahold of the spoon and it would go all over the place. She's now got 4 teeth on the top and 2 teeth on the bottom. They all came in at nearly the same time so it was a difficult period. She also figured out that she can stand up in her crib so it took us a few days to get that out of her system. Her naps were nearly non-existent during that period but it didn't last too long.
WEEKEND WITH THE ZACK'S
We made a short trip to stay with our friends Eric and Laurie this weekend. They have a daughter, Piper, who is a few months younger than Claire so it was fun to see them interact. It was also nice to catch up with EZ & LZ.
I finally hit 30 miles this week of running with a 7 mile run in there. I'm starting to pick up momentum...
I've got everything set up the way I want it with our personal finances and real estate finances now. We've got a solid spending plan in place and I've got everything forecasted for the next couple of months.
Claire has been pulling up on everything lately. She's still a little wobbly so we've got to keep a very close eye on her.
CHANGE OF PLANS
I've been approached by one of my buddies to join forces and try to make athleticore.com the best endurance sports training log on the internet. Our talents compliment each other quite nicely so it will be easy to separate duties. This has been on my MAJOR TODO LIST for about 7 years so I was relieved when he approached me about it. I've made the decision to push of the MBA program to spend the time that I would have been studying working on this project instead. We started our initial meetings this week and are both pretty excited to create something great together. We have some great ideas and since I've got someone else there to keep the fire lit I'm pretty sure it's really going to happen this time.
I was able to get in 24 miles this week even though I had some sort of bug that had me puking and feeling ill on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Claire is really enjoying the toys that she got for Christmas. She is teething pretty bad and is chewing and drooling on everything.
WORK, FINANCES, AND REAL ESTATE DUTIES
This week was quite hectic for me at work after two weeks away from the office. We've also started to transition our personal finance duties and real estate duties from Jen to me. This week I started to keep track of all of our bills, due dates, etc and started to create a family spending plan as well as forecasting out our personal and real estate finances for the next two months. We've also got our JM Keynes condo vacant and one room in the Graduate Ln condo vacant so my goal is to get them both filled by February 1st.
The JM Keynes condo needed some work done to it so we spent the weekend finishing up some items like touch up paint and cleaning up.
I've decided to run in the Charlotte Grand Prix Series this year. It's an 11 race series that totals up points for placement and it spans from March through October. I typically only like to race if I'm in shape to do well but I'm trying to take a different approach this year. I plan on racing even if I'm going to post some dismal results. As of right now my training has been quite poor over the past 10 weeks so I have some work to do before the spring rolls around. Here's my last 10 weeks of running mileage: 15, 16, 8, 8, 19, 8, 25, 24, 16, 19. This week I hit 20 miles. I'd like to work my way into the 40s consistently before the racing begins but we've all been repeatedly getting sick lately so I can't get into a groove.
On Sunday we headed to my sister Sarah's place to meet up with Sarah's family as well as my sister Melissa's family. We stayed from Sunday through Thursday and then headed back to Chicago to spend a couple more days with Jen's family.
This block of photos features my nephew Ben, my pregnant sister Melissa, and her husband Tony. Ben spends his days spurting out a new word per minute. I think he set the guiness record for known words by an 18 month old.
In this block we've got my sister Sarah with her daughter Summer and her other daughter Savannah in the chef's outfit. We've got my mom on the bottom right.
Summer cleaned house during her first game ever playing Texas Holdem. I don't remember who ended up being the big winner at the end of the week.......oh wait.......that would be me.
Photo of all of the kids minus the one currently residing in Melissa's womb.
A nice photo of Claire scooting around on the floor. She loved having all of the space to roam at will.
